My name is Derek Hannah. I am the service manager for Higgins Energy Alternatives. I am a second-generation chimney sweep specializing in wood, pellet, and gas hearth appliances. I have been in the industry for 27 years. When I am not working, I am spending time with my beautiful wife and three daughters.

I have 32 years of experience in the hearth industry and have received many certifications and licenses, including: NFI Master Hearth Professional, CSIA Certified Sweep, CCP Master Sweep, MA Construction Supervisor Masonry License, MA Oil Burner Technician, EPA 608 Certification.

I have also received specialized training for several manufacturers, including Harman, Travis Industries (Lopi, Fireplace Xtrordinair), Jotul, Mitsubishi Mini Splits, and AllEarth Solar, plus I am safety certified by DOT and OSHA 10.

These certifications and credentials involve extensive training in classrooms and hands-on in the field, in addition to consistent renewal every 1-3 years.

Annual service and maintenance with safety inspections will keep your system working up to par with your manufacturer’s specifications, leading to a better performing system and overall peace of mind for your home heating.
